From AT&T to Verizon to even the lowly Jitterbug, Alex has issues with them all.
Hey friends! Streeter’sWhite Whine ran another bit of mine and illustrated it elegantly. Maybe one or two of you can relate to it, you know, if you’ve made the jump to using a cell phone?

Another fantastic, illuminating entry in Laura Turner Garrison’sComedy Tourismcolumn. This time she gives us a peek at comedy under Communist rule in East Germany. Did you ever even think you could learn so much WHILE having fun??
‘There are people who tell jokes. There are people who collect jokes and tell jokes. And there are people who collect people who tell jokes.’
To be fair, this joke could apply to a myriad of dictatorships, but this specific joke belongs to the Deutsche Demokratische Republik. Don’t let the words ‘Democratic’ or “Republic” fool you; the socialist state informally known as ‘East Germany’ was Soviet-occupied making civil and political liberties there a bit shall we say… limited. Who were the people rounding up the jesters? Why, the secret police force known as the ‘Stasi.’ And the people collected? East Germans. For a population of the poor and disenfranchised, humor became a rare source of empowerment.
Really excited (as per the usual) about my installation of Comedy Tourism this week for Splitsider. After seeing a screening of the Israeli version of The Office a few months ago, my interest in Israeli comedy was piqued. I landed on this show because of its overwhelming popularity within its country, but now I consider myself a new superfan of the show.
This MLK Day, Coors Light finally crosses the line.
